How do I get my 11mth. puggle to listen to me when company is over?
I have an 11mth. puggle and my husband and are having difficulties with her listening to us when company is over. It's just as though all of are hard work goes right out the window when people are in her presence. She is constantly jumping, licking and nipping when somone comes into the house. She does not nip us at home, except a little when we play, but she really nips outside company a lot. When I had taken her to her first vet appt. at 3 mths, he said she was defiant and I would have to be pretty firm with her. I asked how to wean her bitting and he said to squeeze her jaw until she lets out a lite yelp. Well, that stopped her from bitting us, but it doesn't seem to be translating as much to other people. I know she's considered the Alpha female and she's still a puppy, but how do get her to listen to me. To be quite honest, she has horrible manners! My goals for her are to listen to my commands, stop jumping up on people and to stop nipping. How do I get these goal accomplished?
